Apple Expands Its Footprint in India with Four New Retail Stores

Apple Expands Its Footprint in India with Four New Retail Stores
Email :151

Apple is set to expand its presence in India by opening four new retail stores, further solidifying its commitment to the world’s second-largest smartphone market. These new stores will be located in Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi-NCR, and Mumbai, following the successful launch of Apple’s first two outlets in Mumbai and New Delhi last year.

This strategic move comes as Apple strengthens its retail footprint in India, providing more opportunities for customers to experience its premium products. Apple’s Senior Vice President of Retail, Deirdre O’Brien, expressed excitement, stating, “We are thrilled to build our teams as we plan to open more stores in India because we are inspired by the creativity and passion of our customers across this country.”

In addition to expanding its retail presence, Apple has also commenced domestic production of its latest iPhone 16 Pro models in India. This is part of Apple’s ongoing efforts to diversify its manufacturing base away from China. The company began producing iPhones in India in 2017, starting with the SE model, and has since ramped up production, although at a slower pace than initially anticipated.

Apple’s retail expansion in India is coupled with its increasing market share in the country. In 2023, Apple’s revenue in India grew by an impressive 42% year-on-year, reaching $8.7 billion. The number of iPhone shipments also surged, growing by 39% in the same period. India is now Apple’s fifth-largest market globally, with expectations of further growth.

Although Apple’s iPhone production in India is currently estimated to account for 10-15% of total output, analysts expect this to grow to 20-25% by 2027. Despite the lower operating margins in India compared to China, Apple’s business in the country continues to thrive, and the opening of four new Apple stores will only strengthen its position.

In conclusion, Apple’s expansion in India with four new retail stores and local production of the iPhone 16 Pro models highlights its long-term commitment to the Indian market.
